I knew Ray for over 40 years as his dentist. He was one of the most wonderful and impressive people I have met. Always warm and friendly, an inspirational runner, and when I last spoke to him, Ray was brave in facing his end. Ray was a privilege to know and a true example to us all.

During an extended trip to Australia, Ray and Anne had lunch with Barbara and me at the Birkenhead Tavern in Port Adelaide. One (of many) things Ray was particularly chuffed about was a statement made by the barman who told Ray he could use his NZ Seniors Card for Tavern meal expenses.
A brief, memorable trans Tasman experience.

One of the loveliest people you could ever meet. Wonderful friendship all our lives. We always picked up where we left off.
Great memories of school days, playing for Rangiora tennis club, and the many happy dinners and celebrations we shared with both families over the years. RIP Raymond. Along with Barry forever in my thoughts and prayers.
