Philip GIBBS Obituary

Died peacefully at Wellington Hospital, on July 14, 2024, aged 90 years. Loved brother to Margaret Mounsey-Smith and the late Janet Henshall (UK) and brother-in-law of the late Graham Mounsey-Smith, and Russell Henshall (UK). Much loved uncle to Alison, Caron, Stephen, Philip, Iain, Lisa (UK) and Peter (UK). In lieu of flowers, donations to Wellington City Mission, PO Box 7477, Newtown, Wellington would be appreciated. Special thanks to Paul and Janet Gallagher, Rhonda Stewart and Caron Mounsey-Smith for their care and support to Philip. Messages to the Mounsey-Smith and Henshall families may be left in Philip's tribute book at www.tributes.co.nz or posted to C/- 4 Moorefield Road, Johnsonville 6037. Philips funeral service will be held at St John's Anglican Church, 18 Bassett Road, Johnsonville at 1.30pm on Thursday, 25th July 2024, followed by private cremation.

Friends for some 79 years, we kept in touch by phone or email and he stayed with me in Kent, when he cane to England to visit family or friends. How true that opposites match!. Philip academic me sporting I shall always remember his love of the Dungeness railway here in Kent. I know Philip and I will meet again someday . Condolences to his family and friends, RIP dear Philip.

Have only just found out that Mr Gibbs has passed, he loved showing off his "antique" $20 notes (original plastic money) when I would go to see him once a month.

So sad to hear that Philip has passed away. He baptised both our children. He and my Mum had many interesting conversations on religion.
