Very sorry to learn of the passing of Peter. Great memories of the Wellington running scene in the 80s and 90s of which Peter was a key figure, particularly of the group which operated from Anderson Park. He took distance running to a new level, was an engaging personality and an inspiration to many.

Condolences to Helen and family on the passing of Peter. He was a super guy
I met Peter at Paraparaumu Primary School when he was a fellow student in my class. We went through primary school and Kapiti College together and he was always one of my closest and most valued friends. I particularly remember playing soccer with him at high school. He lived close to us and often visited us on the rose nursery where Brian and I lived.
Peter was always super friendly and had a great sense of humour.
On a visit to Adelaide to set up the Adelaide Rodd and Gunn store, Peter visited us one evening and we had a wonderful time catching up on all the news. On my last visit to New Zealand Brian and I had a great time visiting and staying with Peter and Helen one evening at their country property. I was amazed at what a fantastic job Peter and Helen had done renovating their house! It was superb.
Peter, Helen and all their family were also a tremendous help and support to our family following the tragic passing of Bevan. Our family very much appreciated it.
Good bye my dear friend. Thank you for a lifetime of friendship, loyalty and mateship.

Really sorry about Peter's passing. He was such a fun-loving, hard working, energetic guy to whom family was everything. He would not have chosen to leave you all. I'm sure that your memories of Peter will be many and that you will always remember him. I suspect that he will be as close as possible to you all, watching over you carefully from heaven and wishing he could give you all more hugs and have more laughs with you.
I remember Peter best when we were growing up. He was the cool guy who played the guitar and sang Beatles songs. He hung out with the older cousins, Catherine and Deborah Ede while I trailed around in admiration of the three of them. Peter gave the other uncles some competition at the family golf days where they competed keenly for a trophy - I think 18 holes of twice around the 9 hole putting lawn at Uncle Bob's place. I think my Dad (Bryden) may have come close, but as I remember it, mostly it was won by Peter Varrow, with Peter J winning a couple of times.
I remember that Peter was kind, considerate and humble in his many achievements.
I wish you all the best for life, especially at this very difficult time.
I hope that we can meet up at some stage (it was great to meet Rebecca at my Dad's funeral a few years ago). My email is below, which is a good way to contact me.
