A true Gentleman and the 'Boss'; will be missed by the Band of Brothers. Tears have fallen in a quiet moment on reflection and memory for a compassionate leader of men. My thoughts go out to Nelda and family.

We would like to convey our deepest sympathies to Nelda, Jason, Blaise and Phillipa and our deep respect and appreciation for Peter as a friend and colleague, when he served as a Defence Attache at the New Zealand Embassay in Washington DC. The Hoptop family were always kind, cheerful and very supportive of the other Embassy families and we recall very many happy days together. Peter was always great with the kids and always welcoming of other families to the Hotop home. He was generous and warm and widely respected. He will be greatly missed.

Peter was my husband Cass OC W1 SVN 1967/68. Cass so admired his OC. He could only speak well of him. I always had the impression he cared deeply for the families of the soldiers too. I also believe Christ has his seat reserved in heaven. Rest in Peace Peter!

Sorry I can't be with you today to say the final goodbye to Uncle Peter but my thoughts are with you and I am sure the Hotop girls will cover my absence. I hadn't spent a lot of time with you over the past years Peter but remember you and Nelda fondly from my childhood and always will remember you when my children and grandchildren play with the Fisher Price Garage that Nelda sent to us from America back in the 1980s when you couldn't buy them in New Zealand, it has one toy that has remained in our family and our grandchildren now play with it. Rest in peace Peter and our thoughts are with Nelda and your family Love Penny Kirkland (Millar)
