Started my teaching career under his guidance. I will always remember his wicked sense of humour and wide smile.

Rachael and family(s). Sending you my condolences as you prepare to farewell your father. He had a great presence and certainly had an effect on me as a student at Kapiti College. In all my dealings with him he was incredibly fair and you certainly knew where you stood with him. A long time has passed since those days (1970's Kapiti Coast) yet I am sure Peter will long be remembered as having a positive influence on many young people that he met.

He was an incredible educator, a true gentleman, extremely firm in his convictions, with a laconic wit.
Equal parts authoritarian old-school and unflinchingly fair in his dealings with us as young people. I was both terrified and deeply respectful of his leadership at Kapiti College from 1974-78.
Rest peacefully Mr Goodwin.
Your life had an enormous effect on many young people on the Kapiti Coast.

I was both terrified and deeply respectful of his leadership at Kapiti College.
He remembered our year group fondly when I last made contact in 2020.
The last words I know he ever spoke of me then were "She was a very sensible girl". It was an honour that he remembered me.
Rest peacefully.
Your life had an enormous effect on many young people on the Kapiti Coast.
