It is with great sadness we farewell a wonderful man. Loved son of the late Natalie and Bob, loved brother of Michael. Best mate of Buzzy (Denise), dearly loved Dad of Lauren and Chanelle, pretty much father-in-law of Alister and much loved Poppa of Sawyer and Quinn. A celebration of Dessie's life will be held at 2.00pm on Friday 9 April 2021, at 250 Evenden Road, Twyford, Hastings, followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donation to Leukaemia and Blood Cancer NZ would be gratefully appreciated and can be made online at leukaemia.org.nz. Messages to the Deslandes family can be sent to C/- PO Box 967, Hastings 4156.

Pete and the "tightliners" rented our family Bach at Waitetoko for their Taupo fishing trips. He was always great company, up for a chat and a yarn, and the camaraderie that was shown amongst the group was special. Although we have never met, my sympathies to Peters Family. Regards, Bernard Lilburn

To Pete's family and friends,
Please know that some of your sadness is shared. Your loss is great and for that I send you all comforting, warm hugs.
I loved to hear Pete's voice on the phone if I happened to answer and he would say "well, if it isn't the lovely LouLou", of course I would smile and we would have a little chat about this and that before the serious conversation about jobs!
Pete was always kind, even if something wasn't right!
Pete was always positive about his illness and said he would "win this race".
To me, because of his kindness and positivity, Pete Deslandes always has been and always will be a winner!
