My early memories of Uncle Peter include family gatherings at 180 London Street in Wanganui and visiting him at Paekakariki when I was a young girl. I remember Uncle Peter enjoying having a good laugh and being a bit of a tease. More recently, Alan, Esther and I visited Uncle Peter while on holiday at Waikanae Beach in 2013. It was great to catch up, talk about old times and hear some of his old stories. Rest in peace Uncle Peter.

I remember when my younger blond haired brother, sister and myself lived in a state house at 180 London street Wanganui. As the oldest I was often put in charge but ignored, too bossy they said.We often had to walk to school as our parents had little money for buses. Pete was popular at school and a very good soccer player, winning ribbons and cups.He played in the Wanganui Technical College team, and later for Tech Old Boys. Finally ending up with Wanganui Athletic, often playing in positions of inside and centre back. Some of his old playing mates were John Palmer,John Cook,Harold Russel (Nipper) Alan Crane and Gavin Smith. We all used to enjoy watching him play, shouting advice from the sidelines. Our Gran Ethel lived with us, so Pete had to sleep in the lounge most of the time.We all used to cycle out to Castleclif on nice weekends and fish through holes in the wharf for herrings, spotties, and kahawi.Brother, I will miss the lovely chatts we used to have over the phone. You will be severley missed by all who knew you, your sister Jude.

Farewell "Uber" Uncle,
The times we have shared together will always be remembered.
A small but important part, shaping today's world with yesterday's memories.
Never to be experienced again, but forever held in our hearts.
With all our love,

Our deepest and sincere sympathy Merle, Scott, Shane and families. Pete was a top man who loved his family and he will be sadly missed. I'll cherish the memories of those visits to Wanganui and then when you moved to Paekak the countless hours discussing the horses and visits to Trentham, then later the boys golf weekend in Taupo. Our thoughts are with you. Love John & Janice
