Dear Shirley,
I was going to send you an email this morning but found all your emails were deleted from my box, to my shock. So I went to google and Paul's passing came to my eye sadly.
I remember the classes Paul gave us at Shanghai International Studies University, I remember how energetic he was and how beautiful and young you were at that time. We girls (Do you remember Rosie?) had never seen such a standard, fine Chinese lady in our campus. I remember your kindness when we visited him when he was suddenly ill and couldn't come to our class. And I remember how kind you've been to me even when I graduated from SISU, and when I was in difficulties later. Exactly this morning I was thinking about ringing you and Paul by phone.

Love to you and your family,

Kathy

Mr Wah was my primary school teacher at Fraser Crescent school around 1958. And he was lovely, very quiet, not a shouty teacher. Sorry to read of his passing. Love to his family.

Paul was a unique educator and deep thinker about NZ society. He was delightfully humorous and always saw the irony and absurdity of many of the issues that we humans get so exercised about. We were fellow principals and good friends. Moe mai ra, Paul.

As a former pupil of Taita Collage and financial journalist, I knew Mr Wah as a deputy principal, principal, minority shareholder advocate, and author. He was a very intelligent man with good judgment.
