Paul HARNETT Obituary
Passed away peacefully on Monday, 8th August 2022, at Kaikoura Hospital, aged 91. A long life lived well. Beloved husband of the late Marie. Dearly loved father of Maureen and Michael, Frances, Josephine and Peter, Barbara and Michael, Liam and Andrea, Biddy and Bill, Sioban and Adrian. Very special father to the late Lorraine. Adored grandfather of Clare, Tim, Rory, Carrie, Madeline, Anita, Frankie, Josh, Theo, Elizabeth, Georgina, Daniel, Richard, Niki, Phil, and Matt. Loved great-grandfather of Cian, Mairead, Lily, Jeremy, Ben, Mia, Jane, Jones and Charlie. A requiem mass for Paul will be held at his beloved Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grays Lane, Kaikoura, on Monday, 15th August 2022 at 11.00am, followed by the interment at Kaikoura Public Cemetery. Messages to the family may be sent to: Harnett Family, C/- PO Box 134, Kaikoura. Special thanks goes to all those who helped Dad in the last years of his life from the community and in the Kaikoura Rest Home and Kaikoura Hospital. He loved you all. In lieu of flowers a donation to Dementia Canterbury would be appreciated.

They don't make them like Paul any more. He was a lovely man. I had the privilege of staying at the Harnett farm as a uni student - the Harnetts were super-hospitable and a remarkable fixture in the Kaikoura landscape.

Our condolences to you all - Barbara, Michael and Elizabeth. We have fond memories of our time "out-the-back" of Kowai at New Year with your extended families. Thank you for including us! Dad has known Paul for "all of his life" and enjoyed their meeting up at the Kaikoura Trots each year when it was on. Sadly not last year. We will raise a glass to Paul tomorrow. Thinking of you.
