Patricia FLETCHER Obituary

(1950 - 2024)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Mary Fletcher, fondly known as "Trishy" to her friends and loved ones. Patricia passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love. Born in 1950 in Nelson, New Zealand, Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Norman Barry Fletcher and Ruth Fletcher (née Mabin), and her brother, Peter Fletcher and her twin Belinda. She is survived by her brother, David Fletcher, and his wife, Joanne (née Hobbs); nephews, Steven and Gordon Fletcher (Lisbeth); and niece, Julia Fletcher (Steve), all of whom reside in North America. Patricia also leaves behind numerous cousins, many of whom are in New Zealand. Patricia spent her early years in Malaya before moving with her family back to New Zealand. She attended St Margaret's College in Christchurch and later moved to Wellington, where she became an integral part of the Salvation Army community. Patricia worked at The Salvation Army HQ in Wellington for 26 years, retiring on April 30, 2024. During her tenure, she was known for her dedication to the Finance Department and her heartfelt emails that comforted and encouraged those serving overseas. Her work with Child Sponsorship ensured that funds were directed to the right places, positively impacting many lives. Patricia's colleagues and friends celebrated her with great affection, sharing in her joy as she approached retirement. Outside of work, Patricia had a fulfilling social life. She enjoyed attending concerts, trekking and swimming in the sea at Plimmerton. Patricia was also an avid sports enthusiast, particularly, tennis, and she attended the Australian Open several times. Patricia will be remembered for her kindness and warmth she brought to everyone she met. Her absence leaves a void in the hearts of her family, friends and colleagues. A celebration of Patricia's life will be held at the Ninness Funeral Home Chapel, 17 Kenepuru Drive, Porirua on Friday 2 August, commencing at 11.00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online to The Salvation Army (salvationarmy.org.nz), in Patricia's memory. Livestream link details are available by emailing [email protected]

Happy memories of Trishy at Mabin reunions, she was kind and always interested in her young cousins even though we were different in age. Condolences to David and family, and to others close to her.
