We shared our first kiss. We were in the school production together. It was 1982 and our whole lives were ahead of us.We knew all the moves to the timewarp. We held hands, laughed at our own jokes. I called him LMNOP as his initials followed each other in the alphabet. He told me his initials spelt Man. We went to movies, walked around our home town. Glad it was you Mike

Mike will be greatly missed in the riding community. He was definitely amongst one of the best riders we know. His jokes and stories were a big part of the Wednesday and Thursday night rides, and will be sadly missed. Ever the gentleman, his skills on the hill were awesome. A really top bloke and fun to ride with. ...
May the skies be ever blue, the winds ever light and the road long a wine-dee ahead of you mate.

So sad to learn of Mr Neville's passing. He was my son's favourite teacher and had the most enormous patience. He will be missed greatly at High I am sure.

I was devastated to hear about Mike's death. I met Mike through the WHS staff dragon boat team and immediately warmed to his friendly demeanor and often outrageous sense of humour. We paddled together for most of the last decade. I would always look forward to our practices, particularly the chance to catch up with Mike.
Mike, I wish I'd got to know you better. You always struck me as being a very good man. You were an inspirational teacher and I know you were so deeply loved by so many. You were the bringer of much sunshine and happiness. The world is a lesser place without you in it e hoa.

There are no words for the sadness I feel. Michael, you were a friend to many, always so sunshiny and positive and always the first person there to support others in their quests in life. The support you have given me over the years will never be forgotten. You were loved by all who knew you. My love and thought are with his family at this time. Ride free my friend, ride free.

Had great times with Mike in London, and then again later in Wellington. He always knew that one quirky place to go to that the rest us would otherwise not think go to. Precious memories.

Dear Dean, Leeanne, and Family,
I worked with Mike for a number of years at WHS and over this time became good friends. His larger than life smile, fantastic sense of humour and wit made each day a happy one. We shared many a joke and laugh, and he loved his screen printed t-shirts we did together. He was a amazing teacher and mentor to many students (and staff) over the years in the classroom, out on the hills mountain biking, supporting Meow gigs, out on the water Dragon boating, supervising at Relay for Life, and Thursday biscuits day at Awhina. He will be greatly missed at WHS, by students, friends, and family. He will live on in our hearts and with found memories of his great jokes and larger than life smile.

I worked with Mike at Wellington High school. He was a friend as well as a colleague. An nspiring maths teacher and person. Mike had a great wit and saw the world from a creative point of view. The world is a sadder place without the joy of his smile and laughter!
