Michael HACKING Obituary

HACKING, Michael George:
(b. 1952, Boscombe, Dorset, UK) Our darling Michael said his final farewell on 3 March 2022, with family at his bedside. Adored husband to Carole, father to Lily, brother to Gill, father-in-law to Oliver, and doting grandfather to Poppy and Florence. He was treasured by his many friends and whnau in Aotearoa, England, and around the world. Michael had a full life and will be remembered for his quick wit, good looks, and his love of music, language, wildlife, and whisky. A generous and loving man who traversed many parts of the globe in his youth and through his work as a documentary film maker. We will miss him terribly, but it was time for him to leave us. He will not be forgotten. A private ceremony will be held with a celebration of Michael's life to be arranged at a later date. Messages for the family may be sent to PO Box 38141, Wellington Mail Centre, Lower Hutt 5045. Our family is so grateful for all the wonderful care and support from the nurses, doctors, and staff at Hutt Hospital during Michael's final days.

Mike was a wonderful companion, friend and work colleague who's knowledge, wisdom, compassion, intelligence and his down to earth common sense helped and guided me through times that were bot mad and wonderful. I cherish the whiskey we drank in the house on the hill at the bottome of North Island. Treasured memories, you will be missed by all and by your family especially. Jeremy
