Michael Waterfield:
Peacefully on Christmas Day 2020 at Yvette Williams Retirement Village, Dunedin; in his 86th year. Dearly loved husband of Marie. Son of John (dec) and Margaret (dec). Loved father and father-in-law of Mark and Louise, Richard and Rachel, Michael and Cassandra, Fr Peter (USA), Fr Matthew (Poland), Andrew and Angela (Brisbane) and Fr Simon (USA). Loved grandfather of Alex and Georgia, Genevieve and James, Mariette and Keeley, Gabrielle, Oliver and Bella and Ambrose, Colette, Felix, and Isaac (Brisbane).

Michael's family wish to thank all the wonderful staff of Ward 4, Dunedin Hospital and Yvette Williams for their outstanding care of him. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Holy Name Catholic Church, 400 Great King Street, Dunedin, at 10.30am, on Monday, January 4, Rosary will be held in the Church at 5.00pm, on Sunday, January 3. Michael and I were classmates back in the 1940s at Christian Brothers Dunedin. We got on well together. He was even at that young age a person of integrity. I went to Australia for all of the 1950s and we met only occasionally in later years. I admired him for his conscientious commitment and dedication. May he rest in peace.
