I am so sorry to hear of Melvin's passing, I never knew Melvin as an adult, only from Wadestown School, which I attended at the same time. I have a photo of the school's Saturday morning tennis team, which we were on (he was such a talented player) and that's how I'll always remember him, laughing and just really funny, such a cute kid. Thanks for those moccasins too Melvin.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Melvin was a special person to me. I knew him in the '70s when he was attending the University of San Diego and playing on the tennis team. I will always treasure the memories of the time we spent together.

To the greater Parun Family, I am Very sorry to learn of the tragic loss of Your loved One, MELVIN, whom I remember as "BUBS"! I certainly have fond holiday memories of Raumati South in the late fifties/early sixties when the Parun's would play the Satherley's at tennis then walk to the beach most days.
Deepest sympathy and kind regardz to all from the Satherley Clan. XOXO

I am deeply saddened and shocked to have heard that Mel has passed away.
Mel was a brilliant, hard-working, kind, and conscientious lawyer who represented my brother, Logan, in 1998.
Our family was so blessed to have had Mel defending our brother Logan in what was a very stressful time.
My brother was able to move forward with his life with Mel´s dedication and determination in successfully bringing the case to a close.
Thank you so much, Mel, for everything you have done for our family in fighting for and achieving justice right to the very end.
To Mel´s family and friends -please accept our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy.
Rest in peace, Mel.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

I was shocked to see Mel on the news tonight, he was my lawyer back in the 80s when my life was in and out of the courts as a defendant , he was so friendly and a funny lawyer for me unlike many other's through my life of crime in 70s and 80s,, I changed my life in the 90s and with his help i have become a productive member of society , I dont see any of the crowd from my past or lawyers, so have not seen Mel since those days . after reading some of the memories here I can see that life has not been easy for you Mel ,, you helped me and other's and I will always remember you , condolance's to your whanau ,, Ben W

I am very sorry that I am unable to be at Melvin's funeral, but Bryan and I are in Tauranga at the moment. I have found memories of Melvin. I remember Mum taking me over to see Melvin when your mum, Mrs Parun, brought him home from the maternity hospital when he was just a few days old. I hope you draw comfort from each other at this very difficult time. I am thinking of you. Love Beverley (nee Alexander, 14 Oban Crescent). X

I have only good memories of Mel going back years when he was an active representative of defendants in the courts in Wellington region as a Barrister.
I did a number of cases with Mel including High Court cases I enjoyed my time with him even though he had some unconventional ideas. He gave of his best.
Rest in peace Mel,

To all of Mel´s family I give my sincere condolences.
I spent 3 short years in Melvin´s company at Wellington College and considered him as a great mate, enjoying both school times and tennis (although unable to even come close to the Parun brothers ability).
Extremely saddened by this turn of events.
My thoughts are with you

Dearest Aunty Susie, cousins Sophia and David, and beloved family,
Uncle Melvin´s loss is felt deeply and your cousins Michelle, Adam, Millie and Hayley send our heartfelt love and embraces from a distance.
We hope these words offer some wave of comfort...
"You are free now from any pain and suffering.
Time to soar to new heights, surrounded in divine peace, flowing in newfound happiness, reunited with loved ones.
We will carry a part of your legacy within.
Standing up to serve the lives and civil rights of others less fortunate, being more present, attentive, rallying with passion for outsiders and underdogs.
Uncle Melvin...kind, honest, encouraging, determined, steadfast loyal and a true champion at advocating for the rights of others."
Your loving niece Michelle, R.I.P.
