Maria was a wonderful, intelligent and kind person. I first met her when I boarded with her mother in Wadestown about 50 years ago and Maria would come and visit - and play Scrabble with her mother - every weekend. Maria deeply loved classical music, and attended a great many concerts. She loved playing her viola with friends. I´m sorry that I gradually lost touch with her when I moved from Wellington. Rest in peace Maria.

Maria and her parents were close friends of my parents and I can remember as a child hunting for easter eggs every year at their home. My fondest memory of Maria is when she did her big OE with my mother when they were both in their late 60's. It was a memory my mother cherished as she thought she would never see Europe. Thank you Maria and may you rest in peace.

Maria knew my parents Gus & Mary Schafer, and my aunt Lindsay Gabriel, very well. I recall visiting her at home 15-20 years ago, to dig up 5 Kowhai seedlings in the front lawn & take them back to Waiheke. What was to her a pest was to me a great gift. Now, I have a mature tree outside the back door, the one that survived & thrived. Thankyou Maria. Joy Yates

Maria was a wonderful friend to my parents, Heather and Bill for many years. She was one of the most amazing people I ever met, and a real inspiration. Remembered with love and friendship and admiration.
