Dear Ginny and family
I share some of your sadness when I heard that Malcolm had died. I know we haven't seen so much of you in recent years but Rod and I enjoyed his friendship through church in the past. I appreciated his willingness to give advice and to support me as a GP in caring for patients and I know Rod benefitted from his professional care many years ago. Of course there was also the appreciation for music that we shared and it has been a delight to see Jono's development. Malcolm must have been very proud of him even though it feels unfair that he is not here to share the ongoing development of all the family.
My thoughts and prayers will continue in the weeks and months to come. Lorna and family

Malcolm never gave anything less than his full focus and energy. No matter what it was - cars, music, boating, bonfires on the beach at Five Mile Bay (believe us - it was a terrific blaze) or, most importantly, his family he always gave 110 %. He achieved and gave to others hugely and in equal measure. Our sincere condolences.

Dr Abernethy and I shared a small space in recovery one day last year following our own day time procedures. I was instantly so blown away by his determination and stoicism and caring attitude to the staff and his wife, even though he obviously was very unwell. He left a lasting impression. Rest easy now doctor.

So sad and untimely. This kind and very professional man was my cardiologist for a short while when I lived in Wellington. We spent much of the appointment times talking cars!
