Hello, I am the same age as Lindsay and grew up as a neighbour to him and his family. They had a very large plot of land that extended across the back of eight Manuka St properties. There was a hole in our back fence where we could access their place. I always enjoyed enjoyed going over there as Mr Mills was always doing interesting things like chopping up a large pine tree that he had just felled or using his old saw bench powered by an old Lister Diesel engine to saw up fire wood . We could always hear Mrs Mills calling out “Lindsay”!! When it was diner time even though we were two houses away. They had a dog called Gretel that loved to eat huhu bugs that came out of any old wood that was around the place. We also used to catch crawlies from the steam and cook them up. Never enough to feed all us boys though. Mrs Mills ran the Stokes Valley Library.
I sometimes wondered what happened to Lindsay as we lost touch once I was a teen. All good memories . Thanks Colin Kitchingman
