Leslie James (Les):
Life member of the Petone Rugby Club and Petone Bowling Club. On January 22, 2022, peacefully at Bob Scott Retirement Village, Petone, aged 90 years. Dearly loved husband and Pal of Marie and Melba (dec). Loved father and father-in-law of Julie, Kent and Selina, and Deane. Loved step-father of Russell and Rebecca Gardner, Ali and Piers Gascoine, Greg and Michelle Gardner. Les is much loved by all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Staff at the Village for the amazing care and support given to Les. A great team. In lieu of flowers donations to the Wellington Free Ambulance would be appreciated and may be left at the service or at https://www.wfa.org.nz/donate/. An informal gathering to celebrate Les' life will be held in the Petone Rugby Clubrooms, Udy Street, Petone, on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 2.00pm. Doreen and I send our condolences to you. Les was truly a great personn to have known and I will never forget all the good times we had during our period on the JMC. I have just watched the memorial service on the Petone RFC website and it was a great service and richly deserved. Les was a great organizer and this was demonstrated when he organised the annual rugby bowls tournament. He will be well remembered by many as a straight up guy and one you could rely totally on. Our thoughts are with you and your family
