Peacefully, on 25 January 2022, at Lansdowne Court, Masterton, aged 86 years. Loved son of the late Elizabeth and William. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Joan (dec), Eric (dec), Myra (dec), Mervyn (dec), Lorraine (dec), Ray and Helen (Wanganui), and Eunice and Bruce (Auckland). Loved by his many nieces and nephews. Special friend of Craig. Messages to the family can be posted C/- PO Box 460, Masterton. A private cremation has taken place.

My sincere condolences to the relatives of a sincere dear friend whom I got to know in Malta in 1976.
We remained friends ever since. We kept contact through the occasional phone call. Lately I got a bit worried as I haven't heard from him only to find out about his demise yesterday night.

To friends and family of Les. I met Les comparatively recently but will always remember his great spirit and friendliness. What a wonderful raconteur; many stories shared from the world of music. He will be missed at the many concerts he attended.

Les was always a regular visitor to our bookshop, bring his wit and humour and his amazing memories to life. We would often talk about his musical past and the many celebrities and performers he met across the years. His passion for classical music was a true flame for him and my chats with him about Herbert Von Karajan and Jacqueline Du Pre were delightful. The many people who knew Les over the years will be saddened at his passing, he was truly an icon of an era in music we will probably never see again. Our love goes with you Les, travel well. Dave
