Just arrived back to hear the sad news, even though it can certainly be seen as a welcome release from his long suffering. Laughton was an inspiration to many, and will remain long in our memories. It was a privilege to work alonside him and learn from him.

Dearest Laughton ... What Ails This Heart Of Mine'! An absolute privilege to be one of the many you nurtured in the world of singing at Teachers College. I cannot express enough gratitude - To Sir With Love'...

I worked in design areas of shows Laughton worked on at Cap E and Downstage. Sympathies to family - he was an amazing person and I treasured going to rehearsal when he was working with the cast. I also paid attention to his tips for non-singers and got back an enjoyment of singing with his words often appearing in my head. (Breath - and louder!)

Friday morning Choir class at Wellington Teachers' College ('84-86) is one of my most favourite memories of my time at T Coll. Laughton brought out the best in everyone and musicians, singers and non singers (who became singers) came together to produce amazing music. Thank you Laughton, so sorry to see you go. Sorry to hear that Laughton has passed away. Even though it was not unexpected ,when it does happen it comes as a shock, there will b a large hole to fill.
Laughton was a great companion to you and the family for all those years from university times and our families have become intertwined over the years. Laughton was so talented with words and music and it was great when you as a family would come out with impromptu entertainment. You have done a wonderful job fulfilling laughton's needs over these past years and now is the time to look after your own. My thoughts are with you all today.
