Kyle STURGESS Obituary

It is difficult to say anything meaningful when faced with the loss of a friend and a relative, and it is even harder when he leaves us when only 18 years old.

I met Kyle first time when I visited NZ more than ten years ago, a young kid, but already warm and generous. I still have the StarWars sled model that he gave me when I was returning home to Spain. And as a teenager he grew on those qualities. I really enjoyed his visit to Spain, he loved Olèrdola castle and its medieval church, and later in NZ I could listen to his guitar playing. And while Kyle managed to pack much in his lifetime, this doesn't lessen the unfairness of having a promising life truncated. Maybe to cope with that grief is why the ancient Greeks said that he whom the gods love, die young. I will miss him, and thanks to all those that helped him to become what he was.

Dear Kyle's family and friends I wish you great strength in getting through this. The loss of this lovely young man has weighed heavy on my heart. My thoughts are with you all.

This quietly spoken young music man came back into our lives more recently – Kyle, we loved that you wanted to say good bye to your great grand-dad with us and so soon after losing your Mum and our Suzy. You came up to be with your Nana & Uncle Sean, to be with Grandad, catch up with the cuzies, and have some family time. A young man with dreams, hopes and a wonderful heart, and that Suzy smile. Kyle, such a short time amongst us, it's hard to understand you've gone. Aroha Your Great Aunties, Jenny & Viv & families.

Dear Darryl, Catherine and family. Have just heard the news today and deeply saddened by your loss of your beloved Kyle. Words cannot express what his passing means. He was always the apple of your eye. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I remember Kyle being a very humorous young fella with a great love of rock music and guitars in general.
I'm very much saddened to hear of his passing.
