Kevin WHOOLEY Obituary

Kevin had an infectious laugh and always pursued his dreams. RIP

Kevin and I spent our late teens and early twenties working (mostly very seriously, but also japing about) in the music scene in both NZ and London (1985-ish NZ / 1988 onwards UK). I have fond memories of living in a house together in Cricklewood in north London, and working together on all sorts of random music projects around town.

I still live in the UK, but even though Kev had been back in NZ for some time, deep in my bones I never doubted for a second that I would one day engineer the opportunity to hook up with Kev, and we'd pick up where we left off like it was yesterday (coz that's how it works with true friends, right?), but near the end of my recent trip back to NZ to visit family when I was asking around to track down Kev, I heard the devastating news that my old mucker had succumbed to illness. Damn it. Makes you realise you have to keep those you love and cherish very close, because one day ..........!?

Kevin sang in our school punk band before moving on to bigger things in the music industry. We were rubbish but Kevin was a big hearted ball of energy with incredible enthusiasm for music.
