I have a vivid memory from my childhood of Bruce in his Speedos chasing a bikini clad woman around Central Fire Station! He was such a character, so handsome and always had a twinkle in his eye. He was incredibly kind to both my mum (Syvia) and dad (John Wheeler) in their old age. Condolences to Bruce's family. x

So sorry to hear of Bruce's passing . He was a good friend of my mum's (Pamela Mullen) and I last chatted to him at her funeral. Bruce was my driving instructor years ago and I remember him as being such a character and we had some interesting driving lessons.. Good memories. My deepest sympathies to family.

Mary here, (John Wheeler's daughter) we grew up at Central Fire Station where Bruce was stationed with Dad. After Dad retired Bruce used to visit Mum and Dad in Paraparaumu and continued to visit Mum when Dad died. I know his visits were very special to both of them. I remember him as one of the 'young spunky' firemen who us teenage girls used to flirt with!! So sorry to hear this news. I am sure you have many happy memories him!
