Died at Wellington on September 2, 2022; aged 80. Loved husband of Sheila, loved father of David, the late Alison, Michael, and Andrew & Rachel. Loved Papa of Chris & Kate, Anna, Nick & Bohdi, and Fred, Holly & Jane. Dear son of Jim and Alice. Loved brother of John and David. Ken's funeral will be held at St Andrews on The Terrace at 2.00pm on September 7, followed by private cremation. A vigil for Ken will be held at St Andrews on The Terrace, Wellington on Tuesday, September 6, commencing at 7.00pm. This is an open opportunity for all to salute and farewell Ken.

Rev Irwin was one of my very special people when he was the hospital chaplain and I was a patient in Dunedin Hospital in 1972 . I was in the process of trying to contact him when I read the sad news of his passing. I would love to share with the Irwin family why he was special to me and some stories.
