Elysian Fields Kelvin, talking poetry all day long
April 11, 2019
Kelvin really looked after me while I was away on my Gap Year in New Zealand, He took me out for lunch and it really lifted my spirits knowing that I had a friend. He also broke the life long embargo on some very interesting stories about my mother in her Fleet Street Days ....Sending love Kelvin. Clem x

A great guy to work with and a good friend. He loved the movies and I was the station's cinema specialist so we saw a lot of movies together. After Kelvin left LBC to return home, I stayed with him and his friend Bill in Wellington. They were great hosts and my stay left me with an abiding affection for New Zealand and its people. I was delighted when Kelvin visited UK again two years ago and stayed part of the time at mine. We had more great times together - went to the theatre, which he had missed, had a lovely gathering of old LBC mates in my favourite West End bar and when he went home we exchanged more movie recommendations again by email. He was a man of great courage and spirit as well as a much respected journalist. And he loved his cats. Much missed by all his friends.

Kelvin fitted seamlessly into the anarchic chaos and brilliant journalism that was LBC/IRN in the 1980's - Britain's first commercial radio station. He was an unforgettable character who had an instinct for what made a good news story - and the ability to prick the balloon of anyone and everyone's self-importance or pomposity. He also looked after my daughter Clem when she was having a miserable time on her Gap Year in NZ - despite not being in a good place himself. She and I will never forget that. Wherever you are Kelvin, I know that you will be having fun and organising a party. Much love from H and all the Seymours x

Kelvin cut something of a swathe through the LBC/IRN newsroom it its halcyon days in the early eighties when we were showing BBC radio a thing or two.
We loved him; we enjoyed him; we propped him up; we admired his work; we laughed with him.
We miss him.

A good man and one of the best journo's I worked with. Sunday Times story on breaching Parliament security armed with only his pen a classic among many. RIP old chap

Thinking about the happy childhood memories of times spent with Kelvin and his family in Feilding, the farm at Tokoroa and at our grandparent s home on Durie Hill, Wanganui. Remembered fondly by cousin Rosemary.

Without doubt the most brilliant sub I ever worked with and irrespective of Kelvins unique characteristics or perhaps because of them, he was one of the most entertsining people to work with full stop. We got the job done but boy did we have fun along the way.
