Katherine SERJEANTSON Obituary

SERJEANTSON,
Katherine Robertson:
In disbelief and with unimaginable pain, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Katherine Robertson Serjeantson. She was 20 years old, excited to start a job, and beginning to train in social work at Whitireia so she could support those who also struggled to get help overcoming mental illness. Katherine showed so much kindness, wisdom and compassion to others that she was unable to show herself. But we saw her gifts clearly: clever, witty, tenacious, principled, kind to animals, and athletic despite not liking sports. As a child, one of our greatest joys was watching her laugh and thrive in the love of her Canadian family during many holidays at the cottage. Katherine is survived, forever loved, missed and remembered by her parents, Karen and Kevin, sis Meaghan, her Canadian and NZ family and friends. Please join us to celebrate Katherine's life on Friday, October 16, 2020, at 1.00pm, at the St. Barnabas Church in Roseneath. In light of Katherine's battle with depression, anxiety and an eating disorder and the grief left in its wake, we request any donations be made to EDANZ https://www.ed.org.nz/make-a-donation.

Katherine, we send our love to you, Kevin, Karen and Meaghan. We will remember your smiling happy face, and climbing those stairs in Hataitai, and fun times in Waikanae, Paraparaumu and Auckland. Rest in love from your Robertson & Crosswell family.

Even though we weren't the closest of friends, I'm thankful for meeting you and becoming your friend. I wish we were still able to catch up one more time. Thinking of you <3

Dear Kath, we talked together in the kkt group chat and bonded over our love for kpop, and for that I remember you as a friend from my youth. I had a lot of fun talking with you back then and had always hoped to meet you someday. We haven't spoken since then but I hope you're doing okay now.

Katherine with Meaghan at Toronto Zoo on Boxing Day 2009. Had a good time with the girls enjoying the birds, animals and gift shop. Freezing cold outside, fortunately no bare skin touched the brass lizard. <br />Jim Whyte

We have fond memories of our dear niece Katherine from her many visits to Canada and our trips to New Zealand. She was a beautiful and sometimes precocious child who made us laugh often. I remember she was the best waterskiing spotter of the bunch. Sometimes she would even tell me when the skier had dropped off or fallen. Will be missed always.

Katherine,
I am so grateful for the time I had with you and having the chance to watch you grow into a beautiful, compassionate, witty & strong young woman. I will always remember the trips we took to Mary lake, the long hikes on a search to spot Moose, your love for Ketchup and wanting it with everything even ice cream, waking up every morning at the farm stay to take you to greet Lammington...You made sure we all gave you the attention you rightfully deserved, if Katherine wanted a sleepover with her cousins she was going to get it, or else.
You were cheeky in every sense of the word, including your love to go pant less, no matter the weather. Your contagious smile is something special, making you and everyone around you glow from the inside out. We will always remember you as that beautiful white haired angel, Katherine, and how much you fought for you and your family. We love you and miss you every single day.

Kath, I have so many fun memories of you during the time we knew each other. My fondest memory is the summer (or winter for you) where we managed to talk almost every single day despite the time difference. I'll always cherish the memories we made with our friends<3 Rest well and I miss you

Some of my favourite memories of Katherine were when we went for walks with Hurricane in Uxbridge and whenever we would go to the movies we would make sure to get as much junk food and popcorn as possible. She would always make sure to bring Hurricane back some popcorn and twizzlers; he would be glued to her side all night after greeting her with kisses, barks and happy tail wags.

We love you Katherine. You will always be in our hearts and we will always have those fond memories of you.

I always remember taking Katherine to the ROM in Toronto. We went down to go look at their newest dinosaur exhibit and she kept being drawn back to the gemstone exhibit. She made sure to take a picture of every stone so that she could show her friends back in New Zealand.

It was also always great fun taking Katherine and Meaghan to the movies when they came to visit. We had a blast picking out treats and overloading ourselves on popcorn. She always made sure to bring some popcorn back for Hurricane, who would greet her with kisses, cuddles and lots of barking. He wouldn't leave her side all night afterwards.

We love you Katherine and will always miss you and keep you in our hearts.

It is with both shock and sadness that we learn of Katherine's passing. Our daughter Charlotte spent 2 years at Roseneath school where Katherine and Charlotte became class friends enjoying play dates, days out, sleepovers and a trip to Somes Island! We have memories of her kindness, courtesy and sense of fun. Katherine had a easy down to earth attitude. Although soon separated by continents we remember a devoted Kevin and Karen, and a lovely family. Rigby Julia and Charlotte send our condolences at this sad time.

Even though Katherine and I only spent a small amount of time together, I was so happy to have met her. Our time was filled with laughter and exploration. To her family, I'm thinking of you all and I know there are no words to comfort you right now, but I send my love.

Katherine you were so beautiful and kind and you understood me. We we're in hospital together a few years back and we were friends ever since. You never failed to say the right thing, you were one of the first people I told I was pregnant because I knew how excited and happy u would be for me. I saved your life once back a few years ago I'm so sorry I couldn't do it again ❤ Rest in paradise beautiful Katherine x
