Karen was a classmate of mine throughout high school, but I never saw her again after that. She was top of the class in everything. I remember how she went raspberry picking, earning enough to buy her cello and how she laughingly told us she received a marriage proposal from a stranger (a young French man) on the class French trip to New Caledonia. Karen was a school prefect too and was always involved in a heap of school activities. A hugely intelligent and capable young woman even then. Best wishes and sympathy to all of Karen's whanau and friends.

Pat, David and Amy and families, It is with great sadness we hear of Karen's passing. Such kindness and determination made her special. We treasure those creche days with Karen as the kids started their life journeys. Judy, Roger, Roland and Piers Lawrence.
