Jon SKOGSTAD Obituary

So sorry to learn Jon retirement cut short. He was always good company and the ideal temperament to fly big passenger aircraft.

I sell new Subaru's and sold Jon a new Outback a few years ago.I realised at that time that we were the same age,the same month and were in the same year when we both attended High school in Palmerston North during the 60's.I have always had a love of all things aircraft and aviation although not fortunate enough to have personally flown.However my eldest son flys out of the Kapiti Aeroclub,where Jon has attended,and flying is his life.My son and I have often spoken of Jon and his achievements with the greatest of respect and admiration.I am deeply saddened with this news Jon was a rare and gifted man and my thoughts and deepest sympathy are with his family at this sad time.May they find comfort in their fond memories. Bye good friend, I can hear your laugh. You instructed me on the Fokker. We shared many a drink, only good memories. So much laughter. So sorry to hear of your loss Jude,Eve, Stefan.

Jon had a relaxed manner and a friendly countenance that always made his company a pleasure.
We flew together only once, more than twelve years ago, but it seems like yesterday.
I mourn his passing and extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
Rest in peace Jon. You live on in our memories.

In the short time i knew Jon he was a happy and outgoing person he loved life a great person to know sadly gone to soon rip John we will all ways remember

A respected lovely man with a delightful sense of humour. He was a professional aviator I enjoyed flying with in a variety of capacities. Gone too soon.
