A very knowledgeable person, amazingly up to date with latest medicine developments, with an acute and clever clinical approach combined with kindness. Exemplary doctor. He basically solved my wife's chronic pain issue, will always be remembered here.

So very, very sad to find out that Dr Sarfati had passed. He was a wonderful, and knowledgeable doctor, when I had to consult him. My thoughts for his family, Rani Tamarua

Dr Sarfati delivered all three of us and had a long term relationship as our family GP for many years. He went above and beyond as a doctor and will always be fondly remembered by us as a dedicated professional who was always kind, compassionate and caring. He was always there for his patients, even at the most difficult of times and it with much sadness I read of his passing. May you rest in peace John and thank you for all the care you showed our family as our GP. You were a truly special human being. Condolesences to the family at this difficult time.

To our dear cousin John who always knew how to put the fun into sophisticated intellectualism. We relished his welcoming spirit and gently ironic sense of humour.

John, a true gentle man, we shall miss you.
John and Pip opened their home and hearts to our family on our first visit to New Zealand in 1991.
What fun and laughter we had on many trips between UK and NZ over the years. Precious memories for us to treasure of true friends.
We send heartfelt condolences to Caroline, Diana and Rob.

Caroline, Diana and Rob,
Thank you for letting me know about your dad. He was and always will be a very special man. I worked for John while the surgery was attached to your home and got to know Pip and you children as little ones. A very special time and working in that environment was fun, but very professional. Your father taught me a lot and I appreciated my time with him. A gentleman through and through with a great sense of humour. I am so pleased he went as he lived with dignity. Both John and Pip will stay with me a long time through wonderful memories..

My Uncle John was always a highly respected member of our family. Sometimes he would quickly (informally!) diagnose medical conditions over the phone. One occasion was when I was about 10: I had supposedly recovered from flu, but then had bad muscle cramps. He immediately knew it was salt deprivation. Later on as an adult, I realized that he was hugely respected as a diagnostician. He was a founding member of the Karori Medical Centre.

For a time he worked as an Ob-Gyn. Once at enrolment at Victoria University, a maths lecturer recognized our very rare common surname. He said that my uncle was extremely good to his wife and newborn baby.

My uncle also gave me my first lessons in the sharemarket as a young adult. A decade or so later, his wisdom about the pros and cons really influenced me, although I wasn't as successful. E.g. shares are not such a gamble compared with the guaranteed loss of money in the bank at a interest rate than inflation.

Every Christmas he sent a very generous gift.

Will be fondly remembered by many Karori families as a caring and dedicated G P, and by staff at the medical centre where he was much respected for his leadership ,wisdom, and humour,

I worked for John when he first started his surgery in Karori, in the late 60´s. He & Pip have been such wonderful friends over the years-we swapped houses years ago to have holidays. I have such lovely memories of them both. I send my condolences to Caroline, Diana & Rob. My thoughts are with you Barbara Kennedy
