To the Wallaart Family. So very sad to hear the news that Jan had passed away. We were best of friends at Kings High School in Dunedin. We lost contact after I left school and he carried on with further education. My thoughts are with you all. Best of Wishes. Paul Smith

I was deeply saddened when I got the news about John. On behalf of all of the Dangerous Decibels family around the world, we send our love and sincerest condolences to Jane and the family. I´ve attached some photos of John (and Jane too) from the two 2011 Dangerous Decibels educator training workshops in Auckland. You will notice the common factor in all of them is John´s fantastic, charming and joyous smile. He was our deeply respected and admired friend and mentor and a tremendous advocate for worker safety and health. It´s difficult to count the number of workers across New Zealand who are safe and healthy today because of John´s dedication and hard work on their behalf. He will be missed but remembered well. Thanks John, for everything.

I have good memories of John from my time at ACC. He was always kind to me, and he always had a smile.

It was obvious he was an authority in his field. We all enjoyed calling him Dr John after he achieved his PhD, but he never once played the superior game. I noticed how he always looked for the most constructive ways through challenges.

I can still hear his trademark chuckle. I am grateful to have known him.

Big love to you Jane, and to all your family.

Very sad to hear that John has passed. Such a very nice man, always with a smile to lighten the mood. Very good at his job too, and when at Tiwai Smelter made a real difference there. Jessie and I send our condolences and very best wishes to Jane

I have had the honor of working with Dr. Wallaart for several years at Charisma University. He was a joy to know, always with a kind work and quick wit. I will miss him some much at our meetings and working on projects together! My condolences to his lovely wife, Jane, who appeared on screen with him.

John was an amazing colleague and it was largely due to his vision, determination, and passion that workplace health and safety courses were first offered by the Southern Institute of Technology and became recognised and endorsed by industries and organisations throughout New Zealand. It was an honour and pleasure to work with him. My sincere condolences to John's family.

I am saddened to hear of Johns passing. I worked with John at MBIE and WorkSafe and enjoyed his sense of humor. John always had a good story to tell about some past experience be it work or flying. John was a specialist in his field of work and will be missed by those that knew him. Rest in peace John.
