Joan MURRAY Obituary
On 20 November 2022, cherished and devoted wife of Michael for 62 years. Dearly loved and respected mother and mother-in-law of Anne and Tim Macindoe, Judith and Les Bergman, and Ian and Diane Murray. Adored grandmother of Sarah, Jessica, Teresa, Justin, Rebecca, Joanna, Eva, Lewis and Callum, and great-grandmother of Heidi and Addison. A service to celebrate Joan's life will be held at 10.30am on Saturday 26 November at Woolertons' Funeral Home Chapel, 8 Railside Place, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, donations to Blind Low Vision NZ would be appreciated and can be left at the service. On behalf of the Iona College Foundation I was sad to hear of Joan´s passing. She was a wonderful science teacher and Deputy Principal before going on to become Principal. She gave stability and made change with the introduction of the Intermediate department. As Principal of Iona her professional approach, steady kind voice which obtained respect and her warm smile will be remembered by many.

I am truly sadden to read that dear Mrs Murray has passed away. An adored and highly respected teacher during her many years at Iona College. I have missed you both walking past my gate and the chats we had in Havelock.

My deepest sadness and love to you all. Mrs Murray was a wonderful teacher, mentor and principal at Iona through my years of attendance. 1983-1986. In the later years it was lovely to see both Mike and Joan wandering the village. During this time filled with sadness, your hearts can be filled with the beautiful person so was. Not only was she a wonder midlife wife and mother to her immediate family she was also a mother so so many during her years of teaching.
