Joan DONNELLY Obituary
(nee Clentworth):
Of Waikanae. On Tuesday, 13 March 2018, peacefully at Winara Rest Home. Aged 96 years. Dearly loved wife of the late James Francis (Jim), and especially loving mother and mother-in-law of Frances & Graeme Siddle, Ellen Donnelly, Gabrielle & John Liddle, Rosemary & Peter Vandy, and Monica & the late Hugh Luoni. Cherished Nana of Edward & Liz (and Marion), Marie-Louise & Ken, Elizabeth & Toshi, James & Louise, Michael & Christina, Sean & Melissa, Thomas & Rachel, Catherine, Elisabeth & Brian, Christina & Adrian, Dominique & Brad, Vincent & Amy, Joshua & Adrianna, Anne-Marie, Zack, Stephanie, and Paul. Loved Great-Nana of her 14 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to staff at Winara Rest Home for their loving care over the past 9 months, and to those who cared for Joan at home prior to that. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Parata Street, Waikanae, at 1.00pm on Friday, 16 March, to be followed by interment with her beloved Jim at Paraparaumu Cemetery. Joan was a great friend to Kidsreach, an organisation dedicated to assisting hurt and abused children, not just in NZ but all over the world.
Joan did so much for Kidsreach, right up to her early 90s she was still doing tasks such as collating, sorting, stuffing envelopes and much much more. This was not just the efforts of a normal person but it was extraordinary in every way. Joan was as close to a saint as I think you would ever meet on this side of eternity. She did so much yet always seemed to think that others were doing more than her. Joan was the most genuinely humble and loving person we could ever hope to meet.
Thank you Joan and thank you to your daughter and son in law, Gab and John Liddle for everything you have done. They are great and wonderful friends of Kidsreach.
On a personal level, Joan was also our friend and we will never forget the Belgium biscuits or the fruit cake! I hope Joan, that now you are in heaven you will be able to get back to your baking!! One thing is for sure, when we get there, we will be making tracks to your place!
