I am saddened to read of Janets obit in yesterday's DomPost. She was a wonderful woman and a great worker for womankind. I stayed in a Beijing hotel with her in 1995 prior to the UK women's conference. We were rather startled when the Chinese heavies made us move from there into an " official (approved?) hotel". Fond memories.

Sad to hear of Janet's passing. I remember Janet as Chair of the National Council of Women, however I am aware of her lifetime of service and commitment to women at all levels of her life. A life full lived making a difference in the lives of others. My sympathies to her family and friends however it also does seem somehow appropriate that Janet should go to be with God in a year where we are celebrating 125 years of women's suffrage and the achievements of so many women. Despite sadness, I myself will remember Janet as a woman of great achievements, a strong and caring Christian feminist.

I returned from overseas just too late to attend Janet's funeral. She was a tower of strength for the National Council of Women and for many of us over the years. I will also miss her as a fellow Canon Emeritus at the Cathedral. A special lady. Thank you for sharing her with us all those years.

Stephen and I were saddened to hear of Janet's passing. We remember her from our time at St Mary's when I was newly ordained in 1992. She was always a great encourager of my ministry and I remember her taking me so seriously when I was so young! Our paths continued to cross in church circles over the years. We give thanks for her life and ministry and send our deepest sympathy to her whanau.

I was so saddened to hear the news of Janet's death while on retreat on Friday.I will always think of her with great affection. Her ready smile and words of encouragement have been part of my journey since I first met her at St Mary's nearly 30 years ago. She has been a tireless champion for and encourager of women in ministry at all levels. A faithful servant of God in all her circles of influence, her intelligence, strength and presence will be missed by many. May she rest in peace and rise in glory, and may you her family be comforted by the love and memories shared at this difficult time.
