To the Kubiak family please accept my deepest Sympathy on the passing of Joe. I first met him when I worked at Databank Hornby between 1970-1972. I enjoyed his friendly style of management, and kept in touch with him between 1975-80 whenever I visited Christchurch, Incidentally I retired to Pahiatua, which is where Joe came to upon his arrival to NZ, and I have seen his name in Polish Room in the Local Museum.

My Uncle Jozef. He loved his life. He loved his family. I mean this so literally, with words I do not have the skill to give. I have come only twice as an adult, the American cousin, in 1984 and 1999 into 2000, knowing nothing, knowing no one. As I met my mother's family, my family, my auntie, my uncle, my cousins, I watched. I learned. I had heard stories of my mother's young life, of my Uncle Jozef's young life. I hope you all know, I want you to know, how beautiful it was to see the love, the pride, the joy that radiated from him when he was in your presence, as he looked at you, his family. To have suffered agony as a child and to have experienced such good fortune to live in safety and beauty, to have married the sweetest, darling Auntie Manie (Marie) and to have been given my beautiful cousins as children and their beautiful children, this I could feel, I could see, the joy and the love in his soul that such blessings had been given to him. Good bye my Uncle Jozef. Love surrounds you.
