I was so saddened to see that Rene had died in the Marlborough Express last weekend. She was a cousin to my Mum Peggy Bright (nee O'Neill) and was always so lovely & supportive of her & her husband Trevor, & children Jennifer, Raewyn & Quentin. Rene & Peggy would catch up on many of their trips back to Blenheim & Momorangi Bay while passing through Wellington.
After Peggy passed on in 2014 I carried on the family tradition of exchanging Christmas cards and loved catching up with Rene.
I have a lovely photo of Aunty Ag & Rene at Agatha's 100th birthday celebration in 2013.
Quentin, Rene & I had a great catch-up after Uncle Pat's funeral in October 2018.
Condolences to Peter & the extended O'Neill family as well as the Sisters of Mercy NZ.

For over two decades, Sister Declan RSM was synonomous with Westport's St Canice's School and Parish. No wonder that the Buller District presented her with its Civic Award for Service. Parishioners, past students and citizens applauded. We nicknamed her Miss Buller. It was not only a tribute to her for she saw it very much as a tribute to all the Sisters of Mercy who have served the people there since the 1890s.
May her generous, positive soul receive the highest awards in the District of Heaven!
Cheers and prayers, John Craddock sm Napier.

My condolences to the Sisters of mercy. I lived with Declan at St Mary's and caught up with her again at St Joseph's.
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the vigil or funeral as I am awaiting the Astra Zeneca vaccine and I have just had eye surgery. Love to all the Sisters. God's blessing on you all.
