FAGAN,
Irene Mary (nee Howes):
On 24th January 2021, aged 93 years, of Island Bay, after a short illness. Wife of the late John (Jack) George Fagan. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Chris & Siobhan, Michael & Karen, Andrew & Karyn, and the late Robert & Chin. Grandmother of Siew Mei, Lee Ann, Ray, Jack; Alex, Georgia; Sarah, Ben; Seth, and Fabian. Great-grandmother of Ethan, Madeleine, and Chloe. Sister of David. Irene taught junior school at Newtown school in the 1950's, and was a specialist reading teacher at South Wellington Intermediate and Evans Bay Intermediate Schools until retirement in 1998, at 71. In lieu of flowers donations to Coastguard NZ would be appreciated and may be donated online at: https://www.coastguard.nz/donate-now/ A private service to celebrate the life of Irene has been held.

Sending our love and thoughts to the family. We were so sad to hear of Irene's passing. Such a kind, caring member of our village. Irene was always great for a chat, always had a smile and a positive way about her. Sadly missed. Rest in peace.

Irene to us was the caring tutor who taught our son to read when everyone had failed she found articles that he was interested
In to stimulate his progress to sound the words and listen
Our son is 48 now has become a boat builder with family and a good life all because of Irene she gave him the skills for life
