Dear Mirian, Jeremy, Nick and Martin, learning of Ian's death has brought back many wonderful memories of our times at your Roseneath home with the sauna...such conversations, meals , warmth and laughter. I send you our love and thanks for those special times in our lives, including our beloved Mike.
Condolences to you all and Ginny.

So sorry to hear of Ian's death. I got to know him after he became Head of School. We worked closely together. He was a kind and effective leader, who would have achieved more if he had been permitted to do another term as Head.
Farewell Ian, Rest In Peace. And my sympathy to his family.

I met Ian in April 1975. He was one of the leaders of a 5-day encounter group in Eastbourne, which profoundly impressed me to the point where I changed my career to become a psychiatrist. Ian became my friend, and mentored me in becoming a therapist over the next 7 years. He was a wise and generous guide, and I owe him more than I can express. I was very glad that we had a chance to meet up again in February this year in Wellington.
I am very sad for Ginny, Miriam, their children and grandchildren. He was a lovely man.
