Helen BORREN Obituary

BORREN, Helen Lois
(née Armstrong):
Passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday 6 July 2022, aged 67, having lived with cancer for two years. She was courageous and resilient to the end. Loving and supportive wife to Frank; devoted mum to Jacqui, Tim, Michelle and Guy; adoring Nan to Oscar, Neve, Elysse and Lucy; beloved daughter of Phyllis and Graham; close sister to Roger and Phil; and loyal friend to many. A memorial service to celebrate Helen's life will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel, 9-11 Hinemoa St, Paraparaumu, on Tuesday 12 July 2022 at 11am. The service will also be live-streamed
(www.kcfh.stream).
To protect the vulnerable, we ask guests to be alert to Covid symptoms and test if in doubt. In lieu of flowers, we encourage a donation to the Mary Potter Hospice who provided amazing care (www.marypotter.org.nz).
She will be forever loved and always missed.

Thank you Helen for such lovely company, when you would give me a lift from Porirua back to Kapiti, or when we would both be on the train together. Good times together are a blessing.

To begin my tribute, I quote the Samoan proverb: "Amuia le masina, e alu ma toe sau", Translates as: Fortunate is the moon, to go and then return. Unlike the proverb, after departing Whitireia NZ a few years ago to study, I never returned. However, Helen was one of those constants that remained. Even after the recent changes, I believe she remained to remind others of the heart of the place. I had the privilege of working as a fellow colleague for a number of years. The space to be creative, and the space to service the students who are the central pulse of the place. Thank you Helen for being genuine, and consistent. Also being you. Manuia lou Malaga ia te oe le tuafafine. Safe journey to your loved ones who await your arrival, my dearest sister and colleague.

Helen
What a blast Helen your life was! I (Barry) remember our times in London, the flat in Acton, arriving home exhausted from work and we all sat around enjoying each other´s company enjoying the humour, Helen´s wry sense of humour and the laughter. Another time holidaying in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, 2CV comes to mind, laughter happiness and enjoyment. So long Helen!

Helen was a wonderful colleague and she made a difference to so many people's lives through her teaching and encouragement. I'm so sorry she didn't have longer here on Earth.

I will always remember Helen's wonderful sense of fun, her laughter, and her kind and generous spirit. A life ended far too soon.

I am so very sorry to hear of Helens passing and send my deepest sympathy to you all.
Although distance came between us it was nice to catch up with Helen whilst David and I stayed at Phyllis & Grahams house.
Thinking of you all at this very sad time.
