Hauraki GREENLAND Obituary

GREENLAND,
Hauraki Grahame:
Aged 59, sadly passed on Friday, January 19th 2018. Beloved husband of Rowanne Te Huinga. Cherished father to Te Muranga, Turanga, Taniora and Erihana. Loving Koro to Waikohu. Brother to Rewi, Monowai and Paora, son-in-law to June and Bob Jackson, and son of Aroha and Walter Greenland.
Hauraki was an inspiration and role model to his friends and whanau, a dedicated and loving husband and father who made a unique contribution to Te Ao Maori. A former Diplomat and Senior Bureaucrat working in Maori Affairs, Treasury and Justice, Hauraki was one of Maoridom's quiet achievers. His mahi, strength and humility will always be remembered as well as his selflessness and dedication to his children. Hauraki was a gentle, kind and knowledgeable colleague who often talked fondly of his family to me. So sad that he has passed.

Wade Armstrong

My name os Wade Armstrong and I spent my career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. As Director of the Australia Division I worked with Hauraki when he first joined MFAT and again when we were posted together in Canberra. Hauraki was a talented and capable and hard- working young diplomat with a great love for his family. He was very succesful and made many friends during that overseas posting. Subsequently it was no surprise that his intellectual and other skills were widely recognised as he made his career in different governent departments. I warmly remember the time we shared together early in his working life ,as well as his strong commitment to family and was very saddened to hear of his passing .
