Condolences to Viv and family. Greg was a great boss for young police officers like myself in the 70's and genuinely respected for his common sense and caring nature.

To the Gilpins. My heart goes out to you all. Thanks to Greg I have many wonderful memories of our friends from the city. I am truly saddened by your loss. I know he was a very well respected policeman, but I will remember him as your loving dad and husband who lived his life to the fullest, doing the things he enjoyed.
May he rest in peace.

Greg, you were a man of great integrity and a hero of mine. I am forever grateful for your work in bringing my father and so many others home from Mt Erebus. You stood up for the truth when powerful people wanted to hide it. You gave us hope when things looked hopeless. I wish I had seen you a few more times. I wish you knew how much you meant to me. Rest in peace Greg. May your family have comfort in their grief. May your memory be an inspiration and keep you close to us all.

Dear Viv and Family, so sorry about Greg’s passing. I have only seen Greg on the odd occasion. However, My memories go back to 1139 High Street, when as a family we would visit Peggy and Cliff and all the children. One of the last times was at Josie Whelan,s funeral. Family is so important and I know that you will gain strength from being surrounded by family and friends. Much love Ann Hancock née O’Dea,

All my sympathies during this time of sadness and grief to the Gilpin family, their friends & relatives.
My memories of Greg were of a kind, caring and considerate person and l am sure that there will be many who share those sentiments.
And if we can leave that legacy we help make the world a richer and warmer place.

Hello Viv, Sam and family. My deepest condolences. Greg was an awesome boss and a man of deep integrity. He shaped many a new recruit (whose ink was still wet on their QID's) into great police officers. And I know too how his values have positively impacted those that have been working with him recently on the 'memorial'. A lasting legacy no doubt but still a bloody big hole. Warmest wishes and deepest sympathies.

Greg was a pillar of strength and goodness. He leant me his shoulder at several Erebus events, to stand beside, to lean on, for a hug or for tears. He gave me peace and he showed me that there were good guys who would always fight for truth. He cared and gave me strength and I want his family to know they may have been small moments in a big life, but they meant alot to me and my life. He made a difference.
Rest in peace Greg, the battle is won, your work is done here on Earth and may our loved ones greet you in heaven.

To Viv and Family
Faye and l are thinking of you at this very sad time. Greg was an outstanding Police leader for whom l had a great deal of respect. I enjoyed working with him in the 1990s, in Wellington, and admired his professionalism enhanced by his exceptional people management skills. Rest easy Greg.

I was very saddened to hear of Gregs passing. He was a great boss, a man who cared and showed it, and a person who was compassionate and honest to the people that surrounded him. His work on the Erebus tragedy is very much in the minds of many who knew him,.
I will miss not seeing you at the local cafes Greg, god speed.
Hoping that the support of family and friends will help you all through this difficult time.
