Well done to Father and all the Hooper family for the fitting representation of Graham and his life within the Requiem Mass today.
I've been so deeply touched by watching the ceremony live today. So many memories have been flooding through from what's indelibly etched into my psyche. I was so fortunate to have Graham and Colleen as significant role models for my siblings and me, with the special touch of having them as my godparents. I'm sorry that I wasn't there today, but I'm grateful for having being able to attend online.
Graham and Colleen had so much integrity. They both knew their purpose, and worked hard to grow good things for their family, and their community. Many have benefited, not least my family.
Their spiritual life was practical, evident and relentless as they participated and led with generosity of spirit in so many activities.
I noticed, and was profoundly influenced throughout my life, that they managed the ups and downs of life with acceptance, continuing to help others with great humour and without fuss.
The photos today were magic. David, your speech radiated reality and the warmth of your parents. Good job! And the Mass swept together the examples set in Graham's human life with the prayers, readings, rites and songs of the Church which Graham and Colleen have held so dear throughout their lives.
The beacon and wairua of a life of service to others, well-lived, without a hint of self-aggrandisement, and full of fun, lives on in our hearts and our tinana. Sending aroha and condolences to Colleen, Joanne, David, Cushla, Jude and all the family. Haere ra e rangatira nui! Arohanui ki a koe.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family, Colleen. Graham was such a lovely person and I have lovely memories of you both from times together at Manor Park. After 66 years you will have so many happy memories to treasure. My thoughts and love are with you.
