HAYES, Gilbert. - On 1 June 2014, suddenly whilst tramping in the Tararuas. Dearly loved husband of Irene. Much loved father and father-in-law of Matthew and Rene (Wellington). Loved step Dad of Maz, and Andrea. Loved grandad of Sophie and Ethan; Freya, Brooke, and Paige. A Service for Gilbert will be held at Rosewood, 415 Queen Street, Masterton, on Friday, 6th June, at 1.15pm, followed by private cremation. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Life Flight Trust would be appreciated, either sent to P O Box 14448 Kilbirne Wellington 6241 or left at the service.

Sad to hear of Gilberts death. He was our best man at our Wedding in Wellington.
We also shared Gil and Jill's house in Caprera St Melrose for two years.
Gilbert took me Tramping in the Tarrarua's shortly after I arrived in NZ.
