Working with Gary as Publisher at Emerald Group Publishing was a real pleasure. He was a most enthusiastic and passionate journal Editor with an eagle eye for detail. I also had the pleasure of meeting Gary and his wife, Anna, during business travels to New Zealand last year. He was a very kind and hospitable host in his home city of Wellington. I am extremely sad to hear of his passing. He will be greatly missed by so many people.

Gary and I were colleagues in his journal publishing work at Emerald. On and off, for more than 15 years. He worked on a number of publications over those years, improving them considerably. We are grateful for these contributions and I personally will miss him as a friend

From serials librarianship to the field of preservation, your knowledge, breadth and depth of research was extraordinary. Gary was a very good friend of mine. We were colleagues at Victoria University of Wellington for many years and co-authored several journal articles as well as a book. I also was lucky to work together with Gary on a multitude of interesting projects involving librarian education in countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Bangladesh. We also attended many IFLA meetings and conferences together. Rest in peace my friend.

Gary, my dearest teacher, my grand friend. I was so far way from you before, Vietnam and New Zealand, but now I can see you everywhere. You are always my inspiration.

Gary has a great friend and fellow academic that I have known for over 18 years. It is quite a shock to us all that knew him. We had a recent conversation a month ago and we talked about seeing each other in the coming years. I will really miss his support and love of life.

Rest in peace, Professor Gary Gorman, one of the most respected professors in my life.

Prof. Gary departs from this earth never truly leaves, for he is still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, Please accept my condolences, he will not be forgotten. I still remember how kind and good teacher he was. I am deeply saddened by his departure news.
