Hi Gary's Mum & Dad! Gareth, was always good to me and I learnt much from him. He was my Platoon Sergeant at Support Company Trentham. We did alot of training together as Combat Engineers (Assault Pioneers). He also, trained in the Territorial SAS for a while. He made NZ music history by being voted and given the award as New Zealand's Loudest Guitarist in the 1980's. He was a fantastic guitar player able to play rhythm and lead guitar all at once and had a great electric guitar a Gibson Firebird; no less. I remember we (Adventure Playground) played Central Park for the Summer City Music Festival and the Dominion/Evening Post still have our photo. He had me constantly laughing during band practices and away on weekends with the army. A great sense of humor and he had a constant love in his life. I will never forget him. He was very dear to me and I hope to see and get some Photos, as all mine were destroyed in China. I would love to meet his family and catch up with Paula Mathie (our Bass Player) when I come to Wellington in the New Year and put flowers on his memorial/grave. Take care, Michael Bartram
