I am Ian Crosland, my wife is Catherine who has a sister Bernadette and a husband George. George and Fred worked together and Fred being a butcher by trade helped and showed us how to Butcher cattle beasts, he was always cheerful and good company. Some years later while running a garage sale getting rid of all my parents stuff, who should turn up but Fred. He inquired about a large old type engineers vice lying on a bench and would I take $20 for it And I said no but would take $10 for it. He said 'pardon' and I said 'you heard correct'. Fred looked me in the eye and I got a grin out of him. I knew he had had some recent bad luck and I will never forget that moment, It was priceless.

I knew Fred since the early 1980s. He was a collector, as I was, of old Historical military badges. He was a decent guy and will be missed.
