Elizabeth WATSON Obituary

WATSON,
Elizabeth Margaret (Beth):
Died peacefully at home on 8th June 2023, at 72 years, surrounded by the love of her family. Much loved wife and soulmate of Doug and wonderful mother, Bifma, Maha and mother-in-law of Anita, Eloise, Calvin, Kate, Will, Zoe, Ari, Anja and Bryn. A wonderful sister to John Beattie (of Patearoa/Karitane), Ann Howe and Mary Boromeo (of Australia). A very special aunty, cousin and friend to so many. She will be deeply missed. Special thanks to the staff at Te Omanga Hospice in Lower Hutt, your support and care has been exemplary to us and Beth; we'd also like to thank everyone who has looked after and helped our family at this time. Instead of flowers, Beth and our whnau would rather you donate to her Give-A-Little page, her heart project; please search for 'Beth Watson'. A service to celebrate and reflect on her life will be held at Makara Community Hall, 376 Makara Road, Wellington, this Wednesday, 14th June from 14.30, all (including children) are welcome. As Beth was a bright and colourful person who tended to break traditions, we invite you to dress bright for this occasion in her memory. We also invite you to contribute by bringing something from your garden to place on Beth's shroud.

I have only just seen that Beth has died. She was a friend to my husband and I since he was diagnosed with MND and has since died. She's a loss for the community.

For the family:
The sting will pass but the memories, never.

Doug and family I am very sorry for this late acknowledgement of your sad loss of Beth. I did become aware of it a bit earlier but have only just managed to get a contact as I have been wandering around in Europe. Beth always struck me as a strong woman with a great sense of humour and fun. Beth has clearly been taken far too soon, please accept my deepest sympathy.

"From the Trustees of Sing Your Lungs Out (SYLO) for which Beth is our immediate past Chairperson, we extend our deepest sympathies to the family. Beth guided SYLO through probably the most challenging years of its existence with COVID and then the post COVID recovery and rebuild. That she did so when we now know she was not at all well is a remarkable tribute to her resilience, determination and courage; she never once let it be known nor did it stop her from undertaking her duty and responsibilities as our chairperson.

Our sincere condolences - The Trustees"

We were neighbours of Beth and Doug in Normandale and our children were at playcentre and school together. I remember Beth as a compassionate and fun-loving person and have memories of many shared times during those years: school camps, playcentre, tennis club. I also had the privilege of teaching both of their lovely daughters, Anita and Eloise. I send our heart-felt sympathy to you all at this very sad time.
