I think I only ever met Elizabeth in person once, but she was a profound inspiration. I admired her professional work, her feminist ideals, her acumen and leadership and her love of music. My sincerest condolences to Elizabeth's family. She will be missed by many.

When we think of all those excited graduates and the words "I, Elizabeth Welch Orr, by the authority of Victoria University of Wellington", we recall so many occasions, large and small, which we have shared. She has been a wonderful friend,a tower of strength and a real encourager. No one ever dared refuse her. May she rest in peace. Jocelyn and Ken Keith
