Eion ABERNETHY Obituary

So sorry to hear about this. Doin and my aunt were together in the 80s when I was very young but I remember him fondly. In 1988 he gave me a cassette with run d.m.c and the fat boys albums on it which ignited a life long love of hip hop.
R.I.P Eion.

So so sad to hear this Linda and Eve. Eion was such an amazing human and of the best.

I'm so sad to hear of Eion's passing. I had just enjoyed reconnecting with Eion at the pool the week before he died. His beaming smile, gentle nature, curiosity for life and the compassion he always showed me are etched in my mind and heart.
I was around when Eion and Linda met (she & I at BDS, you at MH), attended your gorgeous wedding and have witnessed from a neighbouring distance your relationship, the birth of Eve and much of your contribution to the world of art and the Kapiti community.
You've made the world a better place and I trust you are flying free.

Linda and Eve my deepest condolences. This must be so hard. Eion was such a beautiful man. He had such a unique outlook on the world and brought such warmth, grace and wit with him wherever I saw him which now I realise was not offen enough. Our hearts go out to you both.

Dear Linda, Eve and family,
I am deeply sorry to hear about the loss of Eion. Please know that my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Sending you heartfelt condolences and comforting thoughts. Every time I see a VW bug, it always reminds me of Eion.

We had the pleasure of Eion's company but rarely. It was always a warm, engaging interlude with a thoughtful and unique man. So saddened that he has left us. Thinking of you both Linda and Eve.

So sorry to hear of his passing. I tried to lunch with him whenever he visited his garage in Kaiwharawhara. An absolute pleasure to spend time with Eion, I helped with the odd mechanical job here or their. There is no doubt he will be missed by many.

Linda, I have fond memories of working with Eion at Mahara, and later at Mobys. I have my `wonky´ clock on the wall and it brings me a smile several times a day. You´re in my thoughts and prayers,

He gave his time to listen, shared his wisdom and offered advice. Eion, we will miss your denim-on-denim fashion and positive glow. Thinking of you Eve and Linda xxx

"My life story lives only by those around me I have been fortunate to work with." That was typical Eion - humble, poetic, philosophical, kind and generous. Never asking for anything other than who we are. Eion (and Mission Hall) shaped my life, and it seems impossible that he is no longer in it. Rest well lovely man and know you were loved, you will be missed and you made a difference.

Eion you have left footprints on our heart forever. Your wise and thoughtful demeanor, your kindness and smile that lit up a room. We will miss you more than you will ever know. A dear friend gone to soon. You will always be in our heart. Our deepest condolences to Linda and Eve.

A man that was more human than most and so endearing. He would not likely believe the impact he made on so many. Eion didn´t always say a lot but even a few sentences could be the most worthwhile thing you had heard in a month. I miss him, we all miss him. I hope he realized how much he meant to those around him.
