The best teacher I ever had - from 1966 to 1969 - He was using us to fine tune what was called New Mathematics at PNBHS and then at Massy University - we all became friends with him

To the family of Doug just like to offer my condolences, I was unable to attend his funeral due to health issues and I am sorry for that. Doug was a wealth of information in the numismatic field and this will be greatly missed by many.

Joanne, your Dad has had a difficult last few years - a very different life from when Stuart coached you at Girls High. We used to see him when we went to see my mother and were impressed by his determination in the face of adversity. All the best, Marian Hilder

I had great respect for Doug, from meeting him at the Manawatu Numismatic Society when I joined as a student at Massey in 1983. We were in fairly regular contact until the last couple of years. He gave me a lot of guidance and assistance with research projects at various times. I will miss him.
