Doug was a classic hard-working volunteer and gentleman who did so much for the Barbershop community with which he sang for so many years. I had the privilege to work alongside him as a trustee of the Barbershop Foundation NZ and when he did all the accounting for our national body, Barbershop Harmony NZ and I was President. Wise, generous with his time, he was a mainstay of our organisation for many, many years.

To Alison and the family: sincere condolences at your loss. What a wonderful guy Doug was. A great innings. Rest in Peace now.

Doug contacted me when I was running for council and always supported me over the years offering sage advice on how to solve the issues in Wellington. I greatly appreciated chatting with him at Karori Rotary and Malvina Majors and miss him immensely. Rest in peace old friend

Murray did a lot of plumbing work for Doug and Alison during the 1990s. He worked on their many properties for them and remembers Doug's kindness and humor.
I remember Doug as the head of Wellington Probus and also his assistance in winding Marsden Probus Club. He understood the difficulties involved.
A true gentleman and a fine man.
Rest in peace Doug.

Dear Alison and family, We only met uncle Doug a few times on family occasions, but I can say that Meredith always spoke of Doug with great respect. I pray you will all be comforted in this time of loss, and that you can know the hope of being with him again in eternity. Doug has left a legacy in each of you that will continue on. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
